Questions, Comments, & Good Friday Reading

It’s Good Friday, the day we as Christians remember the painful sacrifice of Jesus, the Son of God for our sins.  He has given His life and asks so little in return, yet we continue to fail Him every day. But on the cross Jesus declared, “It is finished!” Then He released His spirit.

The cross was the goal from the very beginning and His high priestly work was completed: mission accomplished! Our Savior and Lord overcame death and defeated the grave that we too might live forever with Him. Remember Him during this weekend in history. Hallelujah! Christ the Lord has risen!

Fridays are also the days when we answer your questions and read your comments on any topic.  This week’s discussions include:

  • The role of women in the church.

  • Should we give up on politics?

  • Lordship Salvation.

  • The “Slayed in the Spirit” controversy in charismatic Christianity.

  • Are Christians dishonoring God by going to church on Sunday instead of the true “Sabbath”?

SCRIPTURES

Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:1-3

He was despised and forsaken of men,
A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief;
And like one from whom men hide their face
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

4 Surely our griefs He Himself bore,
And our sorrows He carried;
Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him,
And by His scourging we are healed.
6 All of us like sheep have gone astray,
Each of us has turned to his own way;
But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all
To fall on Him. Isaiah 53:3-6
