Listener Comments & Questions Every Friday

Here are some of the topics and questions discussed today:

If we are no longer under that law, why do Christians teach that some parts of the law still apply while other parts do not apply?

What was Paul saying in Romans 14:23 when it states, "whatever is not from faith is sin?"

There are many aspects to taking one's own life, but what is the right way to view suicide?

…and more!

Questions, Comments, and a Call from Angry Listener

It’s Friday. There are always so many good questions and comments to get to, so her we go.

  • My daughter is 16 and wants nothing to do with church anymore, even though we raised her in church, the word, and prayer at home. She claims Christians are hypocrites and I fear she will be lost when she goes off to college.

  • I hear more Scripture in one hour on your show than I hear in a month coming from our pastor on Sundays.

  • Other than in Christ, is there any hope for our children and grandchildren to have a good life in such a dark culture driven by a godless, postmodern education system?

  • I am a “classical liberal” (not modern) but the primary reasons I vote for Republicans is they are pro-life and support free market capitalism.

  • Over the last several decades, we have been informed of how anti-Christian the progressive public schools are and that our children are being indoctrinated. Why is this not a bigger issue that Christians still send their children to such a hostile environment to be “educated”?

  • I am disappointed by your statements regarding the Ford/Kavanaugh allegations. You assume Kavanaugh is innocent, I believe Dr. Ford. Three people know the truth: Ford, Kavanaugh, and God.

  • The left doesn’t even know what “civil” means anymore. Their fruit is the opposite of truth: double-speak, hypocrisy, and often, outright lies.

  • I am a Christian and have supported the Democrat Party all my life, but cannot do so any longer. They are willing to destroy people to gain power. I was also supporting the killing of innocent children through abortion.

  • The #MeToo movement is causing  many parents to be concerned for their sons in the future. We should raise sons of high moral character and integrity, but what about our daughters? They will be affected by this one-sided movement as well but I believe this should be a two-sided conversation in our society.

  • From that Barna survey you read, it sounds like many “professing born-again Christians’ are false converts that trusted an empty gospel of life enhancement.

  • I wish we would rethink denominations within Christianity. They seem to divide and do more damage than good, and often produce “fake Christians” – an impediment to true Christianity.

What is Behind the Modern Liberal Curtain?

When you watch a movie with great special effects, what you see looks amazing (Buildings exploding, giant dinosaurs, super heroes flying). But when you look behind the curtain so to speak, and see how computer generated imaging produces these effects, the magic wears off and you realize it is all fantasy and illusion.

Today, we look at the hard core progressive movement in our nation and how it is built on contradiction and illusion, but sadly most Americans never take the time to look at what is actually going on or where we are being led.  And this same deceit might just be infecting the very church you attend every Sunday.

John Loeffler of Steel on Steel radio is an authority on the real agenda and thought process of the hardcore Left joins us to help us take a peek behind the curtain of illusion that is modern Liberalism.

Quote from John Loeffler:

Are we going to be a free society with the rights guaranteed under the Constitution of speech and religion and press and property – all of which have been under siege by judicial activism for the last 50 years – or will we go careening forward into some kind of oligarchic, progressive, socialistic dictatorship that we know from countries around the world that always fails with economic and social collapse?

We discuss the difference between Left and Liberal, the contradictions within the very thinking of progressives, the long-term effects of the transgender movement and gender-fluid conditioning, and the failure of many churches to stand for the inerrancy of Scripture and biblical morality.

Listener's Show: Your Comments and Questions

Here are some of the topics addressed today and questions our listeners asked:

  • Could you please expand the discussion a little more on the Parable of the Sower/Seed mentioned last week?

  • What does the expression, “the issue is never the issue” mean?

  • Not sure I agree this nation is trending conservative than it appears in culture and politics

  • How can any Democrat Christian continue to vote for their party after the disgusting display in the Senate hearings on Justice Brett Kavanaugh?

  • It’s hard to believe Bill Hybels and Willow Creek Church promoted hyper-progressives such as Corey Booker as examples of good leadership.

  • Please elaborate on yesterday’s discussion about the agreement between the Vatican and Communist China, and is this where the Christian Church in America could be headed?

  • I think the Roman Catholic Church will be joined by the Protestant and Evangelical churches coming together under the guise of “unity” to form the one-world religion that will support Anti-Christ.

  • Why are the books of Maccabees in the Catholic Bible but not in the Protestant Bible?

  • What on earth is with the Burning Man festival about other than a mix of New Age, humanism, environmentalism, occult, and a blending of a few other religions?

  • With America’s foundations of God, truth, creation, and the Constitution crumbling, it is no wonder young people want nothing to do with today’s splintered Christian church.

The War on Truth, Facts and Reason

Truth only comes from God because He knows all things past, present and future, and according to His Word He is incapable of lying.  And if our pursuit of truth has any genesis but God we can easily be deceived.  Today we cover three stories about how facts, reality, and truth is being subjected to man’s opinions and agenda.

We look at the agenda behind the last minute attacks by liberals on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, reiterating our ongoing concerns about movements like “MeToo” being taken too far and used as political weapons to silence opponents of the Liberal Movement.

Then we turn our attention to the professing Christian Church in America, where it seems truth is becoming a more frequent casualty of eloquent, ear-ticking mega-church pastors with their own agenda.  In his apparent quest to create doubt about God’s Word, you will never guess the next attack on the Old Testament being engineered by Andy Stanley.  It seems Stanley is leading to rewriting the gospel to say something like, “Jesus loves you and you are going to heaven so forget about anything God said in the Old Testament… Jesus replaced all the laws.”

Questions and Comments from Listeners

Rather than list many of the questions and comments this week, let’s sum them up this way:

Comments and questions discussed on today’s podcast include an overwhelming response to the current Willow Creek Church/Bill Hybels scandal. Over all listeners who sent in questions or comments on the issue, over 90% are opposed to the Willow Creek Association and Global Leadership Summit, and many have addressed their concerns with their pastor.

Some have already left their churches if it continued to be a part of the Willow Creek Association, while others plan to ask their pastor about it to see how they justify partnering with an organization having so many unbiblical approaches and teachings. In our experience, when confronted about WC, most church leaders double down and refuse to acknowledge the problems.

A few listeners mentioned politics and the fiasco the Senate hearings have become regarding Supreme Court nominee, Bret Kavanaugh. Someone also brought up the difference between being a Christian and a conservative which are often used interchangeably.

Another Christian couple wants to know how to strike a healthy, biblical balance in the home as campaign season is already upon us. One spouse is more active politically wanting to be salt and light in culture and the other just wants to pray and vote as God leads without getting immersed or frustrated with the political process.

The others we had time for today mentioned the importance of believers knowing and appreciating the Old Testament. Also, a new believer who asked about the parable of the Sower in Mark chapter 4 and does it refute the “once saved always saved” doctrine.

Comments Discussed, Questions Answered

Today, Mike and David answer the questions and read the comments from you our listeners.  We discuss the sexual abuse scandal in the Roman Catholic Church, the problem with Christian music blending with entertainment, and the problem with pursuing unity in the body of Christ at any cost – over doctrine and truth.

Here are the topics our listeners want to cover today:

Are you concerned about Hillsong and others that put out some decent music but have some very questionable theological statements and positions.

Where do you draw the line between worship and entertainment. Even Christian music and the church has been compromised lyrically. Is this a result of record labels in Nashville and also wanting to be like the world?

Why do most Catholics seem more loyal to that Church than they do the Word of God?

Is seems the sexual abuse scandal in the Catholic Church is already quite vast as is the cover-up by church leaders, but since over 80% of young abuse victims are boys, the systemic problem seems to be homosexuality. Because of this, the media will not report the whole truth so do you think there will be true repentance and change in the RCC?

My friend thinks you guys are dividing the church instead of uniting Christians over issues of morality and doctrine. I think you guys have said it is wrong to elevate unity as more important than doctrine and truth.

Thank you for the show about public school teaching evolution as fact and how to equip our children with truth, Scripture, and science that affirms Scripture.

What are issues to divide or break fellowship over (within the Christian church) and which are ones we can respectfully agree to disagree on?

When we question the faith of fellow believers, aren’t we judging them? Doesn’t the Bible tell us not to judge?

Corruption, Cover-Up in the Roman Catholic Church

The Onslaught of Darwinism, and Attacks on Franklin Graham

As public education increasingly replaces the truth of God’s Word with the theories of men, students are often subjected to dangerous schools of thought aimed at getting them to conform to a secular worldview. IN order to do this, they must necessarily abandon the biblical worldview. Nothing affirms this better than the way Darwinism is taught as truth rather than theory, even though science continues to confirm the Bible’s account of creation.

Tim Foutz of Ratio Christi Ministries joins us this morning to equip us with the truth to refute Darwinism and evolution, helping us prepare our children for the deception bombarding them in public education.

We also look at the continuing discrimination and persecution of anyone who professes to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. Franklin Graham, scheduled to speak at a rally of 30 Christian Churches in England, is facing fierce opposition from Muslims, government officials in England, and even from some LGBTQ affirming churches calling on the government to revoke his visa to come to England and preach.

UK: Muslims protest Franklin Graham Visit

Many churches in the U.K. go against biblical teachings on sexuality and openly embrace the homosexual lifestyle.

“Three Blackpool churches are to hold services specifically welcoming LGBT worshippers over the weekend of Franklin’s visit, and a four-meter carnival model of Jesus wearing a rainbow sash will be paraded through the town center,” Sherwood noted.

…Liberty Church Pastor Nina Parker and other local churches – which embrace the LGBT community and welcome its members to worship in their sanctuaries – agree that Graham should not be allowed in England.

“[Graham’s presence here would be] extremely destructive [and talk of his coming is] causing division between churches and within churches,” Parker insisted, according to The Guardian.

This pro-LGBT view was echoed by the Methodist Church in the U.K.

“[We] cannot support any preaching or teaching which promotes homophobia or is likely to be damaging to interfaith dialogue,” the Blackpool Methodist Circuit stated, as reported by The Guardian. “[We decline to support the festival] in the light of various comments made by Franklin Graham in the past.”

Jewish Group Says End Times Biblical Prophecy Fulfilled, Flawless ‘Red Heifer’ Could Signal the Third Temple

The Temple Institute has announced the birth of a flawless all-red heifer that could pave the way for the fulfillment of a major End Times biblical prophecy.

The reddish-colored female calf was reportedly born in Israel on August 28 and is being raised in accordance with the Jewish laws of the Torah, according to the Temple Institute.

In Jewish theology, the red heifer is essential to the rebuilding of the third Holy Temple in Jerusalem and will be needed to be sacrificed to complete the ritual of purification for the Temple.

Ordinance of the Red Heifer

Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, 2 “This is the statute of the law which the Lord has commanded, saying, ‘Speak to the sons of Israel that they bring you an unblemished red heifer in which is no defect and on which a yoke has never been placed. 3 You shall give it to Eleazar the priest, and it shall be brought outside the camp and be slaughtered in his presence. Numbers 19:1-3

“The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!”  Hebrews 9:13-14

Where is the American Church Headed?

The Church of Jesus Christ is called to be light and salt to a dying world.  We should be influencing culture by living out the truths in Scripture and sharing the gospel and the eternal truth of God’s Word.  But instead of influencing secular culture we are seeing secular culture influence the church. This leads many to compromise and conform to the world. On the other hand, sincere missionaries through the years have gone to other nations with the true gospel, but now we have been responsible for exporting  things like Word Faith theology and other false gospels.

Elijah Abraham, a former Muslim and now born-again believer joins us this morning to give us some insight on his recent trip to Africa. We look at how the American version of Christianity is becoming more seeker sensitive and how America, once known for biblical discipleship, is now consumed with comfort, leisure, wealth (compared to the world), and luxury – all things that lead us to love this world while losing our focus on eternal things.

One of the sad, subtle consequences of the material wealth and religious freedom enjoyed by Western evangelicals is a widespread indifference to our eternal home. A life of comfort, ease, and acceptance has a way of curbing the appetite for heaven.  Pastor John MacArthur

As the Battle Rages, Many Christians Opt Out

We are in a battle, but how can we successfully fight when half of the army refuses to engage and another twenty percent don’t even know what side to take? As Christians, we are likened to soldiers of Christ. The warfare in this life is very real and even more intense in the spiritual realm and yet, many believers don’t want to acknowledge the reality of this fight.

John R. W. Stott once said:

“We should not ask, ‘What is wrong with the world?’ for that diagnosis has already been given. Rather, we should ask, ‘Where is the salt and light? Where is the Church? Why are the salt and light of Jesus Christ not permeating and changing our society?’”

From the family to the church to the community and culture, Christians have been too preoccupied with earthly, temporary concerns than seeking first the kingdom of God. I realize this seems like a broad statement, but don’t you think America would look very different if true believers had been vocal and actively engaged in advancing the gospel over the last hundred years?

Today’s guest is Julaine Appling of Wisconsin Family Council. We discuss everything from our local and state government to the transgender agenda which now includes Drag Queen story hours in our local libraries!

A Man After God’s Own Heart

Which of us does not struggle with King David being called “a man after God’s own heart” when he later committed adultery and murder?  How can a man with such grievous sins be given such a high title?

Author Jeff Middleton joins us this morning to discuss his new book The Treasured King, which looks at the life of King David and explores the life of a simple shepherd boy who went on the be Israel’s greatest King.

“God’s love for us and desire for us to know Him and to treasure Him only is paramount throughout scripture. God’s Word shares that “David is a man after God’s own heart.” David’s heart is revealed to us in the Bible and is most evident in the Psalms, where David shares his heart’s cry and desire to glorify his Heavenly Father. David also prophetically praises the coming Messiah, the Treasured King.

Like all of us, David was imperfect, yet he demonstrated a desire and commitment to fulfill God’s will throughout his life. David left us an example of passionate devotion and humble repentance. His journey of grace, restoration and hope still rings true for us today. As we study God’s Word, may we also see that God is after our hearts as well.

Be that man or woman after God’s own heart!  Experience that same passion for God as David did. Take this journey through the life of David.  Allow it to penetrate your heart. Reflect on the questions at the end of each chapter and allow God, through His Holy Spirit, to speak to you and draw you closer to Christ Jesus, “The Treasured King.”

In our final segments, Mike and David look at more stories of verbal and legal intimidation of Christians simply trying to exercise their freedom of religious expression and discuss how long it might be before the true church in America is driven under ground.

Message to Catholic hierarchy: Stop deflecting, stop lying

The problem in dealing with abuse by priests in the Roman Catholic Church, according to one expert, is in the hierarchy.

Listener Comments & Questions

Here are some of today’s Listener questions/comments:

  • How long will we in America elevate man’s teachings over God’s Word?

  • Those who don’t know Scripture well end up following people like Andy Stanley

  • Are some pastors really keeping their followers ignorant of deeper things of God’s word?

  • My husband and I are struggling with our church of 11 years whose leadership is committed to Bill Hybels and the Willow Creek Assoc. We’re divided on whether or not to leave. Any advice?

  • Catholics are hurting over the priests sexually abusing children, and many are hurting. This may be an opportunity to reach them with the true gospel.

  • The Roman Catholic Church’s extensive history of abuse, coverup, and hypocrisy.

  • Does social media play into anorexia and bulimia?

  • It is idiotic to want plastic surgery in order to look better in your selfies. What causes this warped thought process?

  • Can you explain the difference between a fornicator and an adulterer, in other words is lusting in the heart truly considered adultery?

  • There is a huge difference between “bashing the church” and confronting and exposing error.

  • Can you clarify Paul’s teaching in Romans 13 about submitting to governing authorities?

  • For those who say division is always wrong, how about the Reformation?

  • I’m a former Catholic and used to trust the church (institution) over God’s Word. Any advice on how to engage Catholics in discussions about Scripture and true doctrine?

SCRIPTURES

He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. 27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, 28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation. Hebrews 9:26-28

Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.2 Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. 3 For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; 4 for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil. 5 Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience’ sake. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing. 7 Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor. Romans 13:1-7

Is Middle East War Knocking on the Door?

When we take our eyes off Israel and the Middle East, we tread on dangerous ground.  The Bible tells us the final days before Jesus’ return will find Israel and The Middle East front and center.  And a lot is happening there these days that the secular media is choosing to downplay, misrepresent, or ignore completely.

In Ezekiel, God says he will drag Israel’s enemies toward her to set off a great conflict, ushering in the final days.  And today we see Russia and China increasing its might and influence in the Middle East.  And we see increasingly powerful enemies like Turkey and Iran stirring up trouble against Israel.

Questions, Comments, Criticisms: Listener’s Show!

It’s the Listeners Show where Mike and David tackle your questions and comments from this week (… and a few weeks prior that we could not fit in). Here are some of the questions and comments from today’s program.

  • Is it a sin to not have children if there’s a serious risk of birth defects?

  • What are “biblical conjunctives”?

  • Legalism in the church

  • I disagree with you on prosperity and healing

  • Christians should not support President Trump

  • Why aren’t more believers equipped to disciple and do ministry?

  • Why do you have guests on your show who are Calvinists, then have other guests who are anti-Calvinists?

  • My pastor says all you guys do is bash the church, but he can’t give me specific examples

  • Should a large church cater to new visitors, particularly in its Sunday sermons?

  • Shouldn’t Charles Stanley refute the heresy that his son Andy Stanley is teaching?

  • Our church brought in a consultant who helped set up a “Leadership Model” following the Willow Creek example to carry out the pastor’s vision. Sadly, we are leaving this church immediately.

  • Why aren’t more believers equipped to disciple and do ministry?

The Lure of Celebrity Pastors

The growing fascination with mega-churches and celebrity pastors continues in the land of “bigger is better.” In the United States of entertainment, it seems many professing Christians would rather follow a man or what seems popular instead of God and His Word.  Certainly not all large churches are bad, but the number of mega-churches and celebrity pastors drifting from sound doctrine is on the rise. So is controversy in the church.

Today, Mike and David hone in on one celebrity pastor and author, Andy Stanley. Stanley has never shied away from controversy, making outrageous statements in the recent past.  His latest advice: Christians need to “unhitch” themselves from the Old Testament.  His rationale? Paul and Peter told the first century church they should do the same! We’ll weigh in with what the Word of God says about the Hebrew Scriptures and try to figure out why Stanley would say something so outrageous.

ARTICLES

Andy Stanly actually appears to aim for the heresy of Marcionism; He clearly says that God is the same God in both testaments, but says that he reveals himself in two completely different ways. Just like Marcion, he argues that the church must “unhitch” from the Old Testament. He actually says: “I am convinced for the sake of this generation and the next generation, we have to rethink our apologetic as Christians, and the less we depend on the Old Testament to prop up our NewTestament faith the better because of where we are in [the] culture.”

The church cannot “unhitch” from the Old Testament without unhitching from the gospel Jesus preached. Speaking of the Old Testament Scriptures, Jesus said “it is they that bear witness about me.” (John 5:39)

Several years ago, I argued that Andy Stanley represents a new face of theological liberalism. In our day, he is playing the role that was played by Harry Emerson Fosdick in the early twentieth century. Stanley may not intend to play that role — he sees himself as an apologist.

So did Fosdick. He sought to rescue Christianity from itself, from its doctrines and truth claims. He cited his own “deconversion” stories as justification for remaking Christianity.

He also sought to “unhitch” Christianity from the Old Testament. In his famous 1923-1924 Beecher Lectures on Preaching at Yale, Fosdick called for a new, modern understanding of the Bible. This would require jettisoning what were for him and many others the embarrassing parts of the Old Testament. He described the effort to retain much of the Old Testament as “intellectually ruinous and morally debilitating.” To the young preachers of that day, Fosdick argued: “The Old Testament exhibits many attitudes indulged in by men and ascribed to God which represent early stages in a great development, and it is alike intellectually ruinous and morally debilitating to endeavor to harmonize those early ideals with the revelations of the great prophets and the Gospels.”

More from Ablert Mohler: Getting “Unhitched” from the Old Testament? Andy Stanley Aims at Heresy

America’s megachurch model “isn’t working.”

“My suggestion is that people (and I’m talking primarily to evangelical Christians) be much more suspicious than they tend to be — about powerful, celebrity spiritual leaders who are not accountable to anyone but themselves and their handpicked boards (‘yes men’),” he wrote.

America’s “obsession with celebrities, ‘bigness,’ entertainment, and ‘success'” is one of the underlying problems. “This obsession has obviously filtered into American religion and, sadly, even into American evangelical Christianity,” he warned.

Olson pointed out that in recent years, “several founders and leaders of evangelical, independent mega-churches have fallen off their celebrity-pastor pedestals hard. (read more:)

Celebrity Pastors Falling Hard; Evangelicals Must Be More Suspicious

Researchers from Boston University School of Medicine’s Department of Dermatology wrote an article published by a peer-reviewed medical journal this month that touches on the “alarming trend” of people requesting surgical procedures to make their facial structures as appealing as their selfies.

The trend is referred to as “Snapchat dysmorphia” and has been on the incline in recent years with the development of social media filters that incorporate photo-editing technologies similar to ones used to glorify models and celebrities on magazine covers.

Although some filters can be used to smooth skin, enhance lips and whiten teeth in photographs, the report claims that the trend is alarming because “filtered selfies often present an unattainable look and are blurring the line of reality and fantasy for these patients.”

The researchers warned that the use of these filters can have an impact on a person’s self-esteem and even make a person “feel inadequate for not looking a certain way in the real world.”

Churches Built on Shifting Sands

In our final segment today, Mike and David look at Willow Creek Church’s implosion based on the sexual harassment allegations against former pastor Bill Hybels.  Last week, the entire Board of Elders, along with the new pastoral leadership team resigned, admitting they failed in their investigation on the allegations against Hybels.  The question now is, does this moral failure and implosion discredit Willow Creek’s global Leadership Summit and the Willow Creek Association, which was supposed to build leaders in the church?

First, today’s guest is Pastor Randy White.  We discuss how to respond in an increasingly caustic, divisive culture, including interacting on social media. We also discuss good and bad daily devotionals and why we should not recommend any devotional instead of God’s Word. We also discuss some interesting Bible facts you may not have known are in God’s Word.

We discuss WHY the Willow Creek fallout matters and what can true Christians learn from it.

Pastors: Stop Imitating and Embracing the World

Today Mike and David discuss a provocative and compelling article by Shane Idleman that challenges pastors to stop imitating the world and return to the fundamentals of being a pastor:  Teaching the complete Word of God, challenging the flock assigned to them to grow in holiness, and to quit worrying about offending members of their church.  Idleman makes an interesting observation in his article: that at a time when “unity” is the buzz word in many churches perhaps it is time for a little separation to divide true born-again believers from the goats.

In our first segment, Mike and David talk with a Messianic Jew who has committed his life to reaching Jews with the truth and gospel of Jesus Christ.  We will discuss why most Jews reject Jesus as messiah and how we can share the truth of the gospel with them.

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”— 14 in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Galatians 3:13-14

Romans 11

So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. 42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. 44 And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; 45 and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. 46 Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. Acts 2:41-47

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. 2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; 2 Peter 2:1-2

5 Things Pastors Need to Stop Doing Immediately

The pulpit regulates the spiritual condition of God’s people which affects the nation. A lukewarm, sex-saturated culture (and church) simply reflects the lack of conviction in the pulpit as well as the pew. Pastors, and Christian leaders alike, must take responsibility for the spiritual health of today’s church, and the nation. We don’t need more marketing plans, demographic studies, or giving campaigns; we need men filled with the Spirit of God.

This is not a letter of rebuke (I’m in no position to do that) – it’s a tear stained plea that we once again seek the heart of God. Here are five issues we need to overcome…

Refuting the Deceptions of Islam

Human nature is such that if a lie is repeated often enough people will believe it if they are not grounded in the truth of God and His Word.  We have witnessed this in the areas of abortion and acceptance of homosexuality within our culture and even in many professing Christian churches.  A vast majority of Americans used to oppose these issues, but now over time many people – even Christians – have caved to culture and generally accept both practices.

The same appears to be happening with Islam.  Deceivers and those they have deceived keep repeating lies about Islam and an increasing number of Americans jumped on board.  Even in the Christian Church an increasing number of pastors and church members think Islam is an “Abrahamic faith” and that Muslims and Christians worship the same god. But the Quran and other Islamic “holy books” contradict these ideas.  And certainly, anyone familiar with the Bible knows that Allah of the Quran is clearly not the God of the Bible.

What other deceptions about Islam are people accepting today as truth? Elijah Abraham, a former Muslim and now born-again believer joins us to discuss the issues.  Elijah travels around the world equipping and teaching pastors about Islam and how to reach Muslims with the true gospel of Jesus Christ.
